Halloween rings

I was looking around on allfreecrafts.com and found this quick easy project for the kids to make. I plan on using black pompoms and black stems to make a spider.

You will need:
2 small pompoms and 2 tiny pompoms
2 goggle eyes
2 chenille stems
white glue

Instructions:1. For the ring part of this craft, cut a chenille stem to about 1-½ inches and curl it into a "U" shape.
2. Glue a small pompom to each end of the "U" shape.
3. Glue a goggle eye to each of the small pompoms.
4. Cut two 2 inch pieces from the second chenille stem. Twist each piece around a pencil to make the curly antennas. Glue the antennas to the small pompoms.
5. Glue tiny pompoms to end of each antenna.
6. Place the "U" shaped ring on your finger so that the pompom critters are facing upward. Twist the "U"

booties

As some of you know I like to use knifty knitter looms and I've been doing a few things for my sisters baby that is due in Sept. I just found this pattern and thought I'd share it. I plan on modifying it to blue yarn so that they will match a hooded blanket I am making for him right now.

Sweet Feet Created By: Clella Gustin

Time to Do: 1 hour

Level: beginner
Instructions
1. Using 12 pegs wrap both strands around these pegs and turn and knit back and forth for 12 rows.
2. Take the beginning stitches and put them up and over the pegs as you would if you were making a brim on a hat, knit these stitches and continue knitting for another 12 rows.
3. Cut the yarn you are knitting with about 14" from the knitting. Using the yarn needle thread the end of the yarn back through the 12 loops on the pegs and pull tight for the toe.
4. Tie the yarn at the toe and then sew or weave up the top or front of the bootie.
5. Finish by chaining a piece of yarn about 12"long and thread through the fold on the top of the bootie. Make a pom-pom and tie on each end of the string. You could also use a piece of ribbon if you do not want to make the pom-poms.

Silly Putty

1 part cornstarch
1part white Elmer's glue

Combine glue and starch in a bowl and mix well. Let dry until the putty is workable. You may have to add a bit more glue or starch. The Glue has to be elmer's white glue and not the school glue or the putty won't turn out right. Also will not turn out right if it is humid outside. But its still a interesting cheap craft of kids.

Homemade Play dough Recipe

This recipe is great for the kids to help with. So the get occupied making it and then they get to play with it. I like to use old play dough containers or Ziplock bags to store it in.

1 cup Salt
4 cups Flour
5 tablespoons Cream of Tartar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 cups Boiling Water
1 teaspoons of food coloring

Put salt, flour and cream of tartar in bowl and stir to mix. Slowly add oil, and half of the water and mix. Add food color and the rest of water. Cool enough to handle dough. Knead until dough is formed.
